Off-road trials

Through the club’s membership of ‘Motorsports UK’ and having obtained suitable permissions, a series of off-road trials IS run throughout the year.

Competitive, untimed events

These are competitive events but not speed events and vehicles take part one at a time to attempt to drive over a pre-prepared course between eight colour marked ‘cane gates’  set up to trial driver and machine as to how many gates can be driven through without causing the vehicle to come to a halt! 

Classes

To allow fairness, classes take into account the wheelbase of the vehicle and the long wheelbase class are even allowed a single opportunity to reverse or tack carefully within the course to allow a better approach angle to be achieved.

These events take place in disused quarries or on private land so members can compete in non road registered vehicles which are trailered to the venue.

Points

Points are awarded according to the number of gates successfully passed through without touching a cane and over a season, positions are determined by the individual with the least points. More than one driver is allowed to use a single vehicle.
