run under the ‘Motorsports UK’ rules and guidelines, these are a more challenging series of events.
The aim of challenge events is for competitors to manoeuvre their vehicles around by driving/winching to reach set checkpoints scattered around the site that we are using. Once reaching the set checkpoints competitors must get to within a few feet of a ‘clicker’ attached to a numbered and coloured post. Competitors then use the clicker to ‘punch’ their scorecard next to the corresponding number and colour as proof of reaching the ‘clicker’ and gaining the points associated with it. This will often involve the need to use a winch to get the vehicle into position or indeed out of the enclosed area after they have successfully clicked the punch card. For this reason, entries are in pairs.
Scoring
The clickers fall into three categories depending on their difficulty and their scores are reflected in the number of points awarded based upon the difficulty. The three colours are blue, red and orange. blues are worth 5 points, reds 10 points, and oranges 15 points.
Classes
Competitors compete in one of two classes based on ability and vehicle modifications.
- Modified
Some vehicles are extremely modified or even purpose-built from the ground up to take part in such events and may have up to 3 different winches positioned to allow any direction winching.
Modified class competitors are eligible to collect Blue, Red and Orange clickers. - Unmodified
Unmodified vehicles have fewer than four modifications.
Unmodified class competitors are eligible to collect Blue and Red-coloured clickers ONLY.
Time limit
There is a time limit for these events of 4 hours from start to finish and penalty points are awarded for lateness when returning after the 4 hours have lapsed.
